Ten tracks, in order

by Alex on January 1, 2010

Incase that’s hard to read:

1. Together Tonight
2. Georgia
3. The World Is Mine (I Don’t Know Anything)
4. Living On The Underground
5. xxxxxx
6. Dead And Gone
7. Missing You
8. Stay With Me
9. You Can’t Trust Me
10. Not Just Yet

You’ll notice, first of all, that track 5 is missing. In working out the order for the songs this morning, I realised that “If I Was Peter Pan” wouldn’t really fit with the rest, and that means there’s a gap. My process was as follows:

-I knew track 1 and track 2 would be Together Tonight/Georgia, and tracks 9 and 10 would be You Can’t Trust Me/Not Just Yet. So they went in first.

-I knew that The World Is Mine and Living On The Underground would be either tracks 3 and 4 or 4 and 5, hence that first box (I decided 3 and 4), and that I wanted Missing You and Stay With Me to run together in either order at the 7/8 position, hence the second box (I decided Missing You would go first).

-That left Dead And Gone slotting nicely before Missing You at track 6, and one space open.

You’ll also notice in the corner that I grouped them by act. This is really just for production, I’m not sure if I’ll divide them up in any visible way on the back of the CD, but I do want it to sound quite orchestral and musical, so I divided them thus:

1. Together Tonight
2. Georgia
3. The World Is Mine (I Don’t Know Anything)
-
4. Living On The Underground
5. xxxxxx
6. Dead And Gone
7. Missing You
-
8. Stay With Me
9. You Can’t Trust Me
10. Not Just Yet

I’ll get to work on that final song. I’m very excited about this :D

I'm very excited about this too =D

Having not heard most of the songs, I can't really comment on the order, but I'm sure you've chosen it perfectly, it sounds like you've really thought it through.

<3

I can't wait until it comes out! I'm so excited, it sounds amazing. You've obviously worked really hard to get it perfect x

magicmarkers January 1, 2010 at 10:08 am

I'm so glad you're already working on another album. I know it won't be ready for a long time yet, but it's a great way to start the new decade – chacking my bookmarked sites and seeing you're working on more stuff! You work really hard at this stuff and I don't think you get enough thanks, so happy new year, and I hope 2010 brings you everything you want! <3

M. January 1, 2010 at 10:10 am

I'm so excited it's illogical! If you're not going to put 'If I was Peter Pan' in the album then I think you should post it on youtube anyway since we love everything you do and can't get enough! Also I love peter pan, it's always been my favourite story from when I was little, so u can call this more of a request ;)

Your handwriting is totally legible…*shifty eyes*…yeah. Anyways, without hearing them its hard to comment on track order, but I'm sure you'll have it all figured out by deadline. I trust you.

Bianca January 1, 2010 at 1:36 pm

wow, you worked so hard on this! impressive :) so what are you calling the album? i cant wait to hear everything, good luck with all the recording and everything. sorry this is a bit off topic, but i loved your music video, it was great and all those bad comments about the sound and everything are written by people who didnt apprciate the music video. happy new year!

Beckii Cruel January 1, 2010 at 2:23 pm

Good luck on the writing :)

Jessie January 1, 2010 at 2:52 pm

Alex, I am also very excited :D I can't wait until VidCon – I shall hassle you to sign my CD, but hopefully politely. :) I can't wait to hear a finalized version of Georgia, and all the titles are very interesting. The CD will probably be 117% awesome.

PS: I think my friend is going to ask you to be in nerdfighterlike with her because she's a rather large fan of yours. Don't panic – she's sane, probably.

Much love, Jessie.

Anyway, agreeing with JamesPeterBailey on that excited front.
What'd you think of End of Time? :D :D :D :D :D

im really for you (and me) happy that the album is taking shape everywhere i go i like to listen to a bit of parrot stories. its good that the album hasnt taken that long to really create, i know there are the skeptics of your music that moan how you just rush your music and that would be a fair point if your music was rushed but it isnt any listener can tell that your music is well thought out and amazing in general.skeptics proved wrong.

Jacob Hollnagel January 1, 2010 at 10:55 pm

I like all the titles, and I'm very interested to see how the songs fit with that title. One thing I've always wondered is whether I should not read the song titles of an album before I hear it. I wonder this because I wonder if the title of the song affects how you feel about the song itself, or vice versa. Does knowing the song title afterward affect how you feel about the song? These, of course, could just be silly questions.

OMG I LOVE Peter Pan!!! Now I really want to listen to 'If I Was Peter Pan'.. I mean the title by itself is just fascinating <3
I totally agree with M, if it's not gonna be in the album, it'd be great if you post it on YouTube! :D

I really hope all of your hard work pays off once the album is released ..
Can't wait to listen to your new songs!!! <3

Good Luck! :)

Elinious January 2, 2010 at 11:06 am

I really like your handwriting. Look at that 4! It's perfect.

Gillian January 2, 2010 at 1:09 pm

:O yeah it really was. i was upset at david leaving but my family convinced me that he will be on telly lots and matt will turn out to be a good doctor.

Bri :D January 2, 2010 at 4:18 pm

Mandy January 2, 2010 at 5:50 pm

I really enjoyed listening to your album, Alex! Anyone can tell you love what you're doing with a passion.

Also, you were in my dream last night. Nothing kinky. It was my bat mitzvah (strangely, i'm not jewish) and you were there. You were missing a leg. Cheers!

elizabeth_k January 2, 2010 at 10:50 pm

Glad to hear the new album is coming right along. I know you don't have any concrete gig dates as of yet, but I was wondering if you could give a round about estimate other than “Spring”. I'm going to be studying abroad in London from Jan-April and was curious if I would be lucky enough to catch you during this time. Thanks so much and best of luck in the studio!!

My_Name_Is_Lucy January 3, 2010 at 5:10 am

What do you mean by “act”? Do the songs follow in a sort of storyline/lyrical order?

Alex January 3, 2010 at 5:37 am

It's called 'The World Is Mine (I Don't Know Anything)' :)

Alex January 3, 2010 at 5:40 am

Wait, what? How says I rush my music? :/ Parrot Stories took me three years!

Alex January 3, 2010 at 6:01 am

Well it was supposed to be a scribbly note to myself :p I didn't write it knowing I'd later post it in my blog.

Alex January 3, 2010 at 6:02 am

No, it's just a production note. I want the songs to follow a certain structure, and arranging that way helped me work it out in my brain.

Wolfiex January 3, 2010 at 6:47 am

wow, cant wait!
greenday have done something like this on their album, 21st century breakdown, and the ordering-thingy works. it makes it a lot cooler (but your songs are cool enough really) and it shows that the artist really thought about their songs. omg, how deep do i sound!
but yeah, its a great idea!
:D x

Bri :D January 3, 2010 at 11:43 am

i dare you to put it on ebay. Some dumbo would pay a lot for your scribbles after the album comes out. do it for charrrity. that would be awesome. sorry random idea

HEYHeyHeyHey January 3, 2010 at 4:24 pm

Why don't you put “If I Was Peter Pan” as a bonus track?

Catherine January 3, 2010 at 9:33 pm

I love the hand written song list it's an artwork all by itself. Iiving on the underground sounds interesting and xxxxxx is intriguing too.

Myles January 4, 2010 at 1:49 pm

I can tell you've put a lot of effort into this CD as well with Parrot Stroies, I'm so excited and I can't wait for this to be released Alex. Keep up with the awesome work.
(Oh, and by the way how did you think of such a cool song title of: “If I Was Peter Pan” ? :D )

My_Name_Is_Lucy January 8, 2010 at 2:04 am

Ah, ok. :3
Can't wait to hear it!
