SO PROUD.

by Alex on January 27, 2010

I had another of those very picky conversations with Alan. I think the pickiest thing I said was “that bar needs to extend by 17%, at the moment it’s going by about 22%”. I’m a tosser. I can’t work out if my precise direction is a designer’s dream or a designer’s nightmare. Either way, this is the result:

EP release is March 1st; pre-orders go live on February 1st. =)

I LOVE IT!!! and now I realllllllllllllllly need to buy the pyshical copy. :) It makes me smile to know that I'll probably be listening to this whilst playing those retro games… XD

Bianca Marie January 26, 2010 at 7:36 pm

Lee January 26, 2010 at 9:50 pm

I love the pokemon and Mario kart songs on your YouTube channel and can’t wait to hear the studio versions.

By the way that bar looks like it goes to 118%. Maybe you should get Alan to move it 2 pixels to the left :P

Alan "Artwork" Lastufka January 26, 2010 at 11:34 pm

Usually it's helpful. It'd be even more helpful to start on skype, ot end there, so we should keep that in mind with TWIM. =) Glad you're happy with how the album art ended up.

janitorbud January 27, 2010 at 12:01 am

So. Cool.

Kristen January 27, 2010 at 12:02 am

I was nerdy enough to measure and calculate what percentage. It seems to be at 116%, but i'm measuring with a ruler held up to my screen so I trust you guys. :D

Tennath January 27, 2010 at 12:06 am

That's awesome! It has this Let It Be/Demon Days vibe to it. Using the silhouettes though, nice touch. Good jobbers on the Alan/Alex combo!

itiselizabeth January 27, 2010 at 4:07 am

That looks amazing. I'm very very excited.

Lewissssssss January 27, 2010 at 5:38 am

Very retro-and-like-awesome :D

Genius, simplistic but awesome. Nice one!

Alex January 27, 2010 at 5:55 am

emerylafis January 27, 2010 at 6:53 am

LOL sonichu!!!

Maja January 27, 2010 at 7:28 am

That looks awesome! The only thing I would change is the green. It's just a little bit too green compared with the other colors.

Olivia January 27, 2010 at 8:52 am

omnomnomnom

Elinious January 27, 2010 at 9:22 am

I like the album art a lot, but something doesn't feel quite right. If you look at the colours that were used, you see that the red, blue and yellow are quite toned down and not super-bright. The green seems brighter than the other three colours. Maybe you could try to tweak the green and see how it looks?

It's a very cool album cover though :) Even with the slightly more brighter green :)

PS: I am sorry for saying this, as it is none of my business obviously but couldn't keep quiet about it either.

Gem January 27, 2010 at 11:35 am

Alex January 27, 2010 at 1:15 pm

It is. This is the EP.

From five entries ago:

“Today was the first day of three consecutive days that I’ll be in Dreamtrak Studios recording my new three-track electronic video game-inspired EP. I know that’s quite a long title, so for short I’ve dubbed it “117% Complete” – a Spyro The Dragon reference.”

Beth January 27, 2010 at 4:18 pm

Didn't know where else to put this and I don't know how often you'd actually be able to check your YouTube inbox, so..

I decided that I wanted to learn your entire album on guitar. And through the use of your website it has been quite easy. (Thank you for that, by the way.)

Anyway, I started with Holding On, then No More, and just decided I'd go back 1 track at a time through Candy Floss. However, when I first tried to play A Thousand Hours, it didn't sound quite right. I checked the placement of my capo, then the tuning of my guitar. Obviously I can't tell you how to play what YOU'VE written, but is the capo actually on the 2nd fret?

I just wanna help out so you can give the most accurate information on your site.

Have a good one, man.

Gillian January 27, 2010 at 8:05 pm

You know, I am clinically OCD. And I can't handle this. How do normal people do it?

Alex January 28, 2010 at 10:19 am

And I replied, saying that the Thousand Hours page says it's on third fret, not second :p

magicmarkers January 28, 2010 at 12:31 pm

Personally, I'd ahve moved the 'aklex day; text up sligthly, just so it's more centered =P but it looks AMAZING, I want a poster of this!

Annee January 28, 2010 at 4:03 pm

I don't mean to sound dumb but what is an ep?

Jessie January 28, 2010 at 10:33 pm

Excellent! I LOVE this cover!

Mandy January 29, 2010 at 9:35 am

Looks awesome man!

magicmarkers January 29, 2010 at 11:11 am

it's basically just an album but with fewer songs on it, usually about 3-5

Gem January 29, 2010 at 11:23 am

ahh i see. just me being stupid then, hadnt checked your blog in a while.

Latest youtube video well funny, man (Y) keep em coming :D

xx

Myles January 29, 2010 at 11:25 am

That cover looks so cool. I love the spyro reference with the title '117% complete' I had 117% complete on Spyro: Year of the Dragon. That was the most awesome, retroest game ever. Can't wait for this CD. :D

JamesPeterBailey January 29, 2010 at 1:21 pm

That is effingh fantasma-orgasmic! :D

JamesPeterBailey January 29, 2010 at 1:22 pm

dont say that! Alex will take it seriously :P

Heidihoeexo January 30, 2010 at 9:38 am

Great cover :D
You might have said this in one of your past blogs, but I looked and didn't see it, Do you know about how much the album is going to cost? [:

Laura January 30, 2010 at 8:58 pm

Just wondering, do you think that people who don't really like games will still enjoy this EP? Just like people who didn't like Doctor Who enjoy Chameleon Circuit's music.

<3

Michael Markman (Mickeleh) February 3, 2010 at 7:24 pm

Excellent. Grats to you and Alan.
