Today is PRE-ORDER DAY for my new videogame EP, 117% Complete! *jumps around with excited things*
AND! It’s not just the physical CD (which looks beautiful – we made the back look like the start screen of a NES game). Because there are only three tracks, it wouldn’t make sense to sell that on its own, so we have a BUNDUL! Yeah!
Head over to dftba.com now and you’ll see a twenty-five dollar burst of fun right there on your screen. We figured this would make the most sense so that you’re not getting ripped off on shipping for a three-track CD, and would provide a cool opportunity to give other stuff to the people that like physical things.
First off, there’s the CD:

You’ve seen the art for that already, and the rest of it is just lovely.
Then there’s the T-SHIRT:
That is also nice :) I figure most people will just buy the shirt cos they like it, and the music will be a nice bonus for them. I think it’s a fun design.
And finally, the badges – I don’t have a separate picture of those but you can see them on the pre-order page and it’s basically each quarter of the EP cover in badge form.
I’m gonna try and get some copies of the EP and the badges shipped over so I can sell them at shows, but the t-shirt is exclusive to dftba.com so if you’re sure you’ll love the music, or you just like videogames and think the t-shirt is cool, the pre-order is right here for you :D
For those that are waiting to hear it, I’m going to be releasing the EP on this site on March 1st, the same day it goes up on iTunes, and we’ll also be putting out music videos for all three songs on the first week of March, over the period of 117 hours. <3 (Alan’s idea, what a brilliant human.)
I definitely would advise, though, if you’re planning to purchase the EP, get the bundle; not cos I obviously make more off it, but because I think these three products are really nice and worth having :)

Oooooh! Orderinggg now! :)
YAY! Excited for March now, I wasn't beofre cause of dissertation submission but this makes me happier about it now!
So you can't just buy the CD on its own then?
Just wondering, do you think that people who don't really like games will still enjoy this EP? Just like people who didn't like Doctor Who enjoyed Chameleon Circuit's music.
<3
y isnt dat snog bout eylashes u did wif tom milsun on der?
Well as I said in the blog: “there are only three tracks, it wouldn’t make sense to sell that on its own”. Say we sell the CD for $4 (a dollar a track, same as iTunes, plus one dollar for the physical), once you add shipping on to that, it becomes 7 or 8 bucks. For three songs. Rather than just rip you off, we added more to it so that it's a justified purchase. Hopefully people will like the shirt just as much as the music, and if not, you can get it off iTunes or buy the EP at a live show.
Thank you :D
Well, it's more specific to the references of the games than Doctor Who was, but I went for the games I figure most people would have played – the old Pokémon and Sonic ones, and Mario Kart Wii – so the majority of people should still appreciate the references. And I think the music is still good and catchy :)
I didn't know there would be a T-Shirt and badges too! Oh, I am excited. :D
I will pre-order as soon as I am able to – I've been looking forward to this EP for ages. :)
blaah, I really should read all the blogs before I comment… anyway, can the shirts be bought separately? Because I plan to buy a copy of the EP at one of your shows so you can be lovely and sign it (hopefully the 28th of Feb show, If that's still happening) but I would still like one of the t-shirts because they are amazing! :D
Pre-Order win :) Love the t shirt design. <3
My parents actually pointed this out to me when they ordered 'Painfully Mainstream' for me for Christmas, but it has been bugging me ever since. I realise DFTBA is an american company and based in the US, but would it not make more sense to also have a UK branch?
Considering the fact that a lot of artists, like you and Tom, live in the UK, and we were previously able to get your albums without paying shipping from the US, it would make sense to have a 'UK branch' of DFTBA. Obviously I'm ecstatic that DFTBA was created, as so many amazing things have come out of it, but it does seem unfair to peope in the UK. It's very fustrating to have to pay shipping costs for CDs that were made by artists in our own country!
Clicks over to order RIGHT NOW :D
I'm going to buy it anyway, I was just wondering what to expect =)
Can't wait to hear it <3
It's less than 2 pounds more to ship it to the UK than it is the US. We really really try to keep it as affordable as possible without taking any money away from our artists. We've considered a “UK branch” numerous times but there is just no way to make it work logistically, between sending boxes and boxes of stock over there, and paying someone there full time to send out orders, it would cost us more than it would save us. Meaning we'd have to raise prices on the items anyway. I do all of the shipping for DFTBA, and I do it for less than minimum wage because I make the majority of my money on royalties from sales. No one else is going to reliably mail out orders for us for less than minimum wage.
Pre-ordered the SECOND Alan tweeted it :)
SO EXCITED! :D
Ordered it :D xx
Hey Alan, since I see you replied here I thought I'd just ask you here instead of emailing…
I ordered your Can't remix LE with Alex's EP, but Can't remix comes out on the 14th of February and Alex's EP on 1st of March. Since shipping was only 9 dollars to the Netherlands, will you send both items together on the 1st of March?
I totally think it's better to ship together since it's probably cheaper than sending them seperately, but I was just wondering because I am excited about the Can't Remix thingie and I can't wait for it haha ;)
I love the buttons!
That show won't be happening because I won't be able to get the CDs shipped over from America in time. So I'd advise you order it online :)
Ah, that's fair enough Alan :) makes sense, I just wasn't too sure how you were working the system of shipping etc. But having it explained I can see it is the best way. I don't want it to seem like I'm not appreciative of everything you do – I admire you so much for everything you've done, you're an inspiration! Thanks for taking the time to explain, it's very thoughtful of you.
Pre-ordered a little while ago and informed all of my friends that they should too. I cannot wait for this! You put out really nice things all of the time. :)
They will be shipped out together when 117% Complete starts shipping. Thanks for ordering!
No problem, and thanks. It's a lot of work, and because we do it in house, that saves us money and allows us to only charge a couple bucks for shipping a t-shirt, CD and buttons package to the UK, which isn't cheap. =)
Thanks!
Absolutely, if it means the cost is kept down the that's great. I wasn't sure if you'd scaled up a bit since the start of DFTBA Records or not, which was why I was a bit confused, but it's clear now. Plus, all these wonderful new products is just more incentive to go job-hunting :L DFTBA records is one of the best things I've seen in a long, long time!
Okay, I can't wait for it to arrive now!!!
Alex, you inspired me to make youtube videos.
Your music is awesome
Shouldn't it be up to the customers if they want to purchase the EP despite the shipping? For people who aren't interested in a T-shirt but want a physical copy, $7 or $8 to ship the EP they want is much better than $25 to get the EP and a T-shirt they won't/can't use.
